Hi guys,
Should my Viper be able to get "on the pad" with 2 220lb guys in the front seats. It has a fresh 200 with a 28 pitch prop. The center of the prop shaft is in line with the bottom of the pad and there is no set back. Please bear with me as I am new to this high speed boat stuff. :o Thanks.

You should be OK with that 200. Put all the other weight, safety gear, paddle
gas tank, battery, etc as far back against the transom as possible.

I ran a Vector for years and the Viper has a similar bottom --- putting the weight in the rear worked for me.

Make sure you have duel cable steering and good port to starboard balance.

Also, although you didn't say, you should have a low water pickup gear case.

If you still have the stock case, be carefull of blowout.

Just a question, but how did you get the propshaft level without any setback?

Guys,
The motor has a manual jack plate and the mid is 15". The jack plate gives it a couple inches of set back I guess. Anyway, that's how the prop shaft is close to even with the bottom of the pad. I probably should have gave you guys more info. My bad. I would like to get the boat into the 80 mph range with 2 (220 lb.) adults sitting up front. Do you think it's possible? All info. will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I could do it in the V-king no problem with two 180lb guys up front, with a 6" manual jackplate, 2 inches below the pad.

Try lowering the plate a touch to see if you can carry the bow a little better!

What type of 28" prop are you using? And what speed are you getting now and rpm?
