300X are supposedly closer to 310, I would take an uneducated guess and say there is approx 20-30hp difference in favor of the 300X

The main thing is there characteristics the 300X will have alot more torque and doesn't rev as high generally suits a heaver boat.

liquid force,i have a 25' powerplay an i am trying to decide if i should put on a pair of 300x or some 2.5-280hp on my boat.which u think would be best and what props size should i use.

No real decision , go with the 300x motors. more power ,last much longer and more civilized

Second MJ's comment, I think you wouldn't find a second person recommend 2.5's in that application over a 300X.

I run a pair of 300's on a 21ft boat and the torque is just silly, they can literally pop the boat clean out of the water.

as for props I would pick something along the lines of some 25-26in Bravo 1 4 blades would be a good all round starting point.
