I am wondering if I should be switching the stock motor mounts in my 92 200 efi merc. It looks like it is twisting when I put the juice to her

Would putting solid mounts in be the ticket?
What am I looking at to have this done?

if you are running a surface piercing lower-unit, then the answer is definitely. If it is just a fishing motor on a fishing boat with the prop down low in the water, then it may not be worth the effort. They will stop it from twisting or wiggling back and forth.

You can get them from bob's machine shop and I think they are around $50 bucks.

If you are having trouble driving your boat at high speeds. Go with solid mounts.
But, in order to see if it's "for you", Take your seats out and put a piece of plywood down. Halfway unscrew your windshields and any other screw you can find. Remove the cowling and leave it in the truck.
Make a few passes that way just to see if you really still want solid motor mounts.

I have made do with stock mounts because I dont surface my prop. I have ridden in boats with solid mounts and the vibration is very noticable (very much so at idle). Dont change them unless you have too... (Surfacing props, handling issues, ect).

There are aplications where they are a must. Mine is not one of those for now anyway.

If you still have the original mounts, they are 15 years old. Mercury seems to have used very good materials for these, but they may be shot. Mine were. It's a 93. I live in the south. Year round use and all. I wasn't sure until I compared my movement to a 2 year old engine. Very noticeable difference. New mounts made a big difference in the handling. Less chinewalk, and what was there was much easier to control.
