Is there a good web site with information on Mercury outboards? Like Shaft lengths, 3.0, 2.5, 2.4 Horsepower, weight.. Everything. People post motors for sale and I don’t know enough about outboards to know certain information and a good web site would be much quicker that wating for a return call or e-mail.
right here. just have to do a lot of regular reading to soak up all the details.

Also whats the differance between a BlueWater, Saltwater, OptiMax, Smartcraft and any other Mercury. As you see I have a chitload of questions.
I'm running a 30ft Cat in class 4 (OPA) I'm limited to 84.99 Max speed and I was told a set of 2.5L 200hp motors would be a great low cost start. I found a set of 99 2.5/200 Bluewater Carb motors, but low cost they are not. But everyone say's there is hidden HP In those motors and it would be a great way to go.

just wait till you find a great deal on two individual motors, and one is a 20" and the other is a 25" and one has a sportmaster, the other a cle, or what not and you have to find the right gear cases and midsections to match, then cowls, etc.
2.5 200's seem to be pretty plentiful and can be had pretty cheap, but finding a nice matching pair is going to be a pain, as with really any matching pair of used engines.

I have found fresh water 99 2.5 200 Bluewaters for 5K Each.. seems high for a 200hp.For a 99 that is not too bad.
In comparison when I was boat shopping I was able to find 225 3.0 Liters for 4-7k, 250 EFI 3.0 for 6-8k and 300PM from 8-10 and 300x from 8-10.
Now I was shopping 3 liters, but the years were mostly 97ish to 2001-2 ish.
I still can not think of what makes a bluewater any different. I want to say it was heavy dutier? is that a word? then a standard..but you already have mids, so ......

makes sense., powerheads will still transfer for ya!
A "book" can't dictate selling values, it's real-world supply and demand.
