Mercrusier power steering is binding

how do you correct this? is there a cable adjustment or something? Its very hard to look back there cause my transom covers half the engine:confused:
theyre 1995 small block chevys twin alpha gen 2 setup

Prolly time for a new cable. Other than that check to make sure nothing has fallen into the ram/ tie bar between the two transom assemblies on the starboard side, like a hose or wiring loom

the cable is loose as a goose. maybe binding was the wrong word. its like the power asist is faulty. occasionally it turns freely but most times its like the power assist goes away and your turning it manually. similar to like when your power steering belt gets wet in your car. the pump is not making any unusual noise either
