I recently bought a boat with a 98 Merc 200 so the 1st thing I did was buy a service manual online for $70+. The motor did not work well and after I took the rig to a Merc mechanic/dealer it was determined that the motor was a POS and I wound up buying a new motor. (hopefully I can part out the old one and recoup some of my $). I called Merc and told them I did not need the service manual but would like to exchange it for a manual for my new motor. Wouldnt you know it I missed the shipping of the SM for the 200 by half a day. They told me to call them when it came and they would exchange it. I called them when it came and they said they would send me a SM for my new motor NP. I told them I had the 200 SM and a check ready to mail for the extra shipping costs ready to mail and they said dont worry! They said dont worry about shipping the 200 SM back - "we will take care of you". Bottom line - I have a SM for the 200 (which I really dont need) and Merc Pubs is sending me a SM for my new motor for free! They really did me right over and above what was necessary.
Once again kudos to the people who make the best motors in the world and take care of their customers.
