Hi there. Just wanted to introduce myself. I have been lurking for months now and figured I would post. Lots of good stuff on here.:)
I am on Hotboat a lot but under a different name (beaverretriever). Spinwax is a name I have been using for yrs.
I have put a deposit down on a Trick Powerboat. We are going from a 23XS v to the 21 Trick. DCB, Elim, Cobra, Lightning, Ultra have all used the 23XS V-hull. I hope we are not making a mistake going to this smaller boat (although it looks pretty big for a 21). We just don't have the room in the garage for a bigger cat right now. Eventually we will get a 26-32 footer.
What do you guys think of the Trick in terms of a Skater copy (quality, resale, look, etc)? I have read some real negative stuff about other copies on here, but Jeffs boats seem to get good reviews overall.
Jeff seems to really care about the quality of his boats. They sure look nice from what I can see.
Is this boat going to be a better ride than our current boat? We boat in some rough areas (Havausu and Mead).
Fill me in.
Thanks in advance.
This is what we currently own for comparison.

Trick makes a nice looking boat. Also they seem to be built very well. What are you go to power it with? :) Chuck

Don't want to get into the cat v. V thing but I think the ride is much better in close together chop in a 21 Skater bottom. If you're going out in big ocean swells then you've made a mistake but in bays lakes and rivers I chose the cat. I'm sure you'll be happy, there is no better 21' tunnel in the rough in my opinion.

With that engine, you are looking at 100+ on speed. It will ride great on 2 to 3's, anything over you won't be going fast, but it will handle them.:) Chuck

John,
Glad to see that you have expanded your horizon. Greg has a great thing going here. You boat will be # 14 out of the mold. I have to build one for a F1 tunnel racer in Vienna Austria, then you are up to bat. Romans boat will not be powered but will be rigged. It will probably take less the standard 6 weeks. Hopefully we can get a little jump on yours!
I'll be on vacation starting Sunday and will be back the following Sunday. So don't freak when I don't answerthe phone.

LOL, I have actually been lurking on these boards for about a yr, but just signed up last month and posted yesterday.
I wont freak... I will just take a short trip to Kentucky and take your boat out while you are gone. :D

Rick,
I'll be at RR if they'll have it in Mexico!
John,
You will be wasting a trip. My rig will be stashed in the same secret location that Greg keeps his. All of us non-boating boat owners like to keep things simple

You are looking at about 50K depending on options. Call me if you know exactly what you want and I'll quote it for you.

Congrats. :D Both what you have and what you are getting seem like fantastic boats. Personally I think it's great to see someone going back to a smaller boat for a change. I love boats in the 17-22 ft range:D :D and I don't mind one bit if it takes a bit more skill to drive them fast.;)

I am not even a yellow fan and that one is sick. I'm not sure why, but your boats look sleeker than the original Skaters. Maybe its the shorter seats..LOL

Wecome Spin wax.
You have no idea how much fun you are going to have with your new boat.
I rode in the yellow boat with Jeff and it is really a lot of fun to drive.
It rides bigger than a 21 foot boat.....
It is a Ferrari, A Z06 Corvette, A rocket... You will have a huge smile on your face when you drive it. You won't want to get out of the drivers seat..
It is a blast to drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jeff is a stand up guy and his quality is secound to none.
You will love the boat and will will really enjoy working with Jeff..
John
