I have owned both.I like the GPS better. The liquid always leaks from the lens plus the pickups always get cloged.

A few years ago the US department o defense had full control over the GPS satellite stations (Nevstar) and receivers. To minimize civilian GPS accuracy they created a file called “Selective availability”. This file manipulated the time accuracy in the civilian’s “over the counter GPS”. For several reasons (which will take up to much space) the selective availibity file was lifted by Pres. Clinton, giving civilians as much accuracy as the Military.
Now! In buying a GPS, make sure its good quality and rated to connect at least 12 Satellites. More satellites = Better accuracy. It will last and worth the money.

Below is some of the best I’ve used and had no regrets.
Magellan – 8.5/10
Garmin - 9/10
Lawrance - 8/10
Raymarine - 9.5/10
