beleive int'l hobbies was the co. not sure about them, but the outdrive isn't available anymore. i have seen a few on ebay, seem to bring decent $. 80 to 120 range. but i don't recall ever seeing any parts for one. never looked, either. i usually crawl over the rc boat stuff pretty good, and don't remember any parts listings. bearings could probably be matched up, but if it's a gear drive (looks like it), that stuff could be unobtainium. got to agree, pretty neat looking unit. a lot simpler than stuffing boxes, struts and rudders.

ya they look cool..dont run nowhere as fast as surface drive..I want to say I pd $275 for it? new and that was at least 10 years ago..see the little bronze tube pointing down at it? that sprays water on the drive joint keeping it cool..if it ever blows I will scrap it anyway..there was a guy from Dracut that made real nice outdrives a bit bigger and not as good looking but way stronger...:)

oh those are nice! do they trim up like the International? they look fixed..

they have an optional piece that allows you to manually adjust the trim, or set it up on a 3rd channel so you can adjust while running.

just found a thread on int'l. waters (rc boat forums). that is an AMPS outdrive-was distributed by int'l. hobbies. both companies out of business. original owner of AMPS had sold everything off in lots. he found a guy here in the states that wanted to continue building them. original owner was trying to buy back the stuff needed to manufacture them again. last anybody knew, the deal fell through. the guy here in the states had a web site called customrcboats-dead also. if you want any names or more info, google AMPS outdrive, and follow the links to int'l. waters. $405.00!!!, i know my stuff is smaller (.21 ob), but with a little hunting on ebay, i could buy 2 boats ready to run for that money. the smaller stuff may not have the bling factor or speed, but i can afford to run it and fix it when it tears up-and it will. blew the rod out in my 3.5 mod k&b ob sunday, got VERY lucky, didn't hurt the rest of the motor-but it will only cost about $20 to fix. that kind of fun i can afford.

I have a few of the AMPS Outboards. They are very cool and hard to find parts for but they can be found. They run in the low 40's for the 11'cc on a good day. These outboards sell anywhere from 200.00 to 1200.00.I watch the cowl for a merc sell for 200.00 on ebay a month ago. They were made from the late 80's to about 1991.They made tunnels, deepvee's.and speedboats.

those are a really nice detail for any rc boat. as much as i like ob tunnels, the current rc motors don't do them justice. i didn't realize all the different manufacturers and styles they had made. that's a nice collection you have.

Thats a good one.I can tell you havn't seen her closet. Since you go by Moparbarn what do you have. I'm a big mopar fan myself. We are working on a 73 Roadrunner at the moment.

i have a 73 charger, 71 fury 1 ex fl. hwy. ptrl. car, and a 68 valiant 4 dr. 'sleeper'. check my post #7 on 'round 2 any saab owners in the house?'. for a better description of them. where are you located? ever go to carlisle? my first car was a 60 fury-HUGE fins. been a mopar nut ever since. i like the old muscle cars best, but was really trying to like the new ones until the charger. why did they take the ONLY dedicated 2 dr. b body and bring it back as a 4 dr? had a lot of other names to use. a charger doesn't have 4 drs! kinda killed it for me. maybe cuz i have one, so i took it personal. but, if you read mopar mags, a LOT of other people agreed with me-right on the cover, too. what else do you have, besides the runner?

I hate the new charger too. I sent them a little hate mail about it. I drove a 69 Charger RT 440 4 speed car when I was in high school. My brothers and I HAD 69 Charger RT,68 Charger 440 dual 4 barrels,69 Superbee 383 4speed.70 SuperBee 440 Sixpak auto. What we have left 73 Runner with soon to be a 408 450hp stroker.79 e58 360 300(50,000 miles),66 Belvedere 40,000 miles and my Modified 91 Twinturbo stealth. I want to buy another 69 Charger but the price they get for them I am going to wait and buy the new Challenger.
My wife drives a 2004 1500 Quad Cab 4x4 Hemiand we live in northern Wisconsin.

The Rc outdrive is an amps outdrive, they were NOT made in the usa at all, They were infact made in cambridge england.
The company that owned AMPS was infact called TM PRODUCTS.
I Bought one back in 1984 and it cost me about £150. they can be used for nitro engines upto 15cc or gas engines upto around 35cc.
They are just as fast as surface drives, and act in the same way as full size outdrives.
The more you put in, the more you get out, they do have A power trim facility like already meantioned.
They were built to be 1/8th scale mainly for tunnel hulls, but could ofcourse be used in mono's as well.

I did run mine with 38cc chainsaw on a 52 inch offshore power boat for shortwhile, and it took that power no problem.
The only thing to let it down was the uj being made of plastic, but once a metal one was made, it was perfect.
The lower unit main shaft can be taken out and gear reversed for contra rotation if you want to use twin set up.

this shows full outdrive including inside the transom plate.

I was a international Hobbies dealer from 84 to 91 and they were bullet proof if maintained, and would keep up with a cable driven boat if rigged correctly.443097443098443099443100

Only sell them if money is needed . They cost way to much to build, about 2,700.00 out of pocket no labor . And all parts, paint, fiberglass, motors electronics are bought at a discount, the things nickel and dime to death and take 400 hrs to completion. Good end result tho
