Fixing to send a full size gearcase to Bob's to have a nose cone installed.With the talk of skeg breakage should I have them do it or should I install one with epoxy after I get it back?Will be goin on a Mirage River Racer/225 mod. promax SS

if you have never had "blowout with that lower unit i wouldnt worry about the torque tab but if ya have then i would have bobs install one, ive seen thier work on those tabs and it's a hell of alot nicer than the bond on type ;)

I was more concerned wit da steerin torque ? Ps Hows the Talon 18 I kinda miss mine at times..hf

By all means have it put on, the faster a boat is driven tru the water the less skeg is in the water to keep it straight the more counter steer is needed as soon as enough speed is achieved so that the nose cone is far enough out of align to the on coming water the nose cone opens up a void in the water ahead of the prop causing the prop to bite a void of air not water then the prop looses bite the the prop then blows out which on your Mirage will cause it to hit a performance wall. With a torque tab applied properly your Mirage is good for the high hundred and teens safley...

Whats everyone's call on tourque tab vs bungie (rubber) straps from the steering arms back to the hull.
I would imagine some boats using large open ear props would require a hell of a tourque tab to neutralise the steering tourque/counter steer
Would a combination be best ?
