Wanted to check before spending too much money. Runs good except for being sluggish. Adjusting throttle sensor makes no difference, all plugs washed and look the same. Need some ideas what to check. Do`nt want to break the bank. This outboard is using 3 times the fuel of another boat with same HP. Have checked manual fuel pump, injectors, timming, link sink, compression and the TPS. Hoping its not the ECU. Idea, this have a temp sensor tied to fuel system?

It has TWO temp sensors, one for engine temp and another for air temp. If either is open, out of tolerance, or disconnected, it will run extra-rich.

Re-set the TPS to service manual specs, then test the temp sensors against the book values.

Send your injectors to Linda for service. You could have 1 flooding over. This is a 12 yr. old motor. Sent mine made a difference.

You might want to check the fuel pump pressure on the electric fuel pump. I think that it is supposed to be set at 39#. The pressure regulator may be causing a problem of being rich. In my earlier reply I didn't catch that all plugs were wet.

Thats what I thought on the sensors, will check them. Wondering if someone pulled the thermostates because I talked to previous owner and I (quote) he said the motor had a heating problem not too long ago that his buddy helped him fix it and they took something off on both sides at the top of the heads.

That would be the thermostats. They belong there on this motor, put them back in. If there was a coooling problem with this motor before, it's likely that something else was the cause of it at the time. If all the plugs are wet, it's doubtful that injector service is going to fix it, but it's a good idea to have them tested anyway once you have the main problem figured out.
