trim tabs on 86 22 veliocity outboard

Looking for recomendations and tips. Getting ready to put a set of Lenco 12x12 racing tabs on 86 22 velocity with outboard on . Is it best to put them on so that they are straight across the transom meaining perpindicular with the water or should I match it to the step on the boat , meaning at an angle . Hard to discuss without pics or drawings .

They mount at the angle of the hull bottom. Velocity has the diagram they can send you with the measurments of exactly where to mount the tabs.
