Right now im running a 8" hydrolic jack plate. Would i gain any speed by adding another 5-6" jackplate ? Or not worth the time and money for the extra setback
oh my boat is a 04 stratos 200proxl with a 225 evenrude ho

If you're gonna go 12" call Chuck at Hydro Dynamics & get one of his plates.

The reason i want more setback is because my friend has a 201proxl with 15" of setback and the boat is faster then i like it to be. He keeps everything a secret because he dosn;t want me to be any faster then i am allready. So what he has done to his 201 i will do to my 200 and hope for the same gains he has gotten with his boat.

I bought a 6" t&h PRO hi-JACK HP today, a local dealer had one in stock that he wanted to get ride of. Sold me it at cost

The jackplate that You have now may not be structured for the leverage of 14"-15" that it would be supporting, that is hundreds of pounds more force than Your current setback that the jackplate, bolts, and transom will have to deal with... The factory setbacks with the offset that You've asked about have a much heavier construction to them than the one that You have now, and there are good reasons for that.. I agree with jphii, if You've made up Your mind to add set back then call someone like HydroDynamics and get single unit made for Your application... A broken fastener or structure of any kind that supports Your engine can give You a VERY, VERY bad day... Performance boating has some real serious consequences if not done correctly..

T&H are pretty soild jackplates, i was planning on puting that on the boat and my detwiler jackplate on the T&H. Theres a guy here thats been running 15" of setback on his stratos for 2 years now without a problem and he pounds that boat alot harder then i drive mine.
