im here....... well to be honest i set mine up with the motors on the center bolts like skater recumends ...with 32x15 cleavers labbed , but i think im going to raise them one bolt hole up this year i couldnt get more then 6k out of the motors . and i used the 15x32 for more stern lift due to the extra weight , but the boat handles good and the balance is good also , i got a bunch of crap when i was doing this setup because of the worrie about weight but it works just fine and the reliablity is awesome!!!

cc@100mph

yeah thats my issue is the weight, are yours 15'" or 20" and what speeds are you seeing and how about acceleration did you go to the suwanee run last year with this boat? have you seen any 24 skaters with 300's

godspeed
04-03-2007, 04:41 PM
24 skater and 25 motion share the same hull . the decks are differnt though so some cotpits are set more forward and some set back .. i have 20' mids and acceleration is good , at 6k or the 6800 desired i was runnin 106 mph , randy "wildman" says with right setup we can acheive 115 mph ...but im happy with 106 ....im not racin anyone ..

spoke to randy and he said 15" motors would be a problem even on a 6" cmc bracket has anyone done 15" motors on a skater 24

my 24 is on the second bolt hole with the original 2.4 220 mercs and I'm running 14.5 X 30 labs. Best was a 103 but the motors where twisting more than I want to . I plan to add a couple 5" jackplates to tune her in and hope to be able to turn a set of 32's this year.......

godspeed

do you own 15in motors?? if not go with the 20s , skater always recumends mounting engines to the transom as opposed to a jack plate

cc@100mph
04-03-2007, 08:30 PM
yes i already have 1 15" 300 pm with tuner heads and rapair computers dont know if to turn it back into 20" or just change motor set up completly any ideas

godspeed

im sure there is alot of people here that would trade with you here (tuners and legs) ..that maybe an answer ..

The 15'' motors put the bottom exhaust port very close to the water line. Water in the motor.... need I say more?

I have 15x30 but they spin like 31-32" for the speed i am seeing on my dash GPS. I spin them right to the rev limiters. 7,800 i belive it is. The prop calculator is way off on my rig?

Why? For CG? I would want more adjustabilty than just bracket holes

godspeed
04-05-2007, 03:39 PM
id call skater to see why .. this is info ive gotten from alot of people whom rig skaters and do alot of setups on them

Alot depends on the water you run in. If you use the Skater for lake use I would recomend jackplates. CMC 5.5 would be the best. Ocean use I would do no setback. I ran no setback with my Skater and it worked just fine.

no test runs yet both my lowers are getting redone before i run should be ready next weekend by the way jeff i know we spoke about my throttles but when i got the console from skater they sent me a beautiful chrome top plate to mount my throttles to the console so i going to keep them (my props dont come till next week either)

Keep us posted WHEN i repower I would like to know that the 3 liters will be ok and what the set up should be

I still haven't found a matching throttle I have one that is close but not sure how it's going to work shifting that left hand lower ( since it would look like I'm going down the lake in reverse any idea how to fix that??)
I'm thinking I will end up having to run one cable out the front of the stack of shifters for the lefty???

I am with ya. Saw it at the 280 shootout but never got a chance to talk to the owner. The pics do not do it justice, that thing was Schaaweeeet!

I generally like all white but that 28 is nice. Interested to know how that 24 runs with the 300's. A friend of mine here in Washington is almost done setting his 24 up with 300's. I don't know his motor height but the motors are bolted to the transom.

Ask wildman, he has set up a few lib 24's would be a good place to start.
