Hot Lens?

For those of you that can't afford the 1K+ pop for the 70-210 L IS lens, I think I have found the next best thing according to all the write-ups for 379.00 brand new to your door.
It's canons 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM.
It has UD element optics normally only found in L lens, plus the latest in image stabilization, Granted it is 5.6 at 300mm (effective 480MM on my rebel xti), but it's 379.00!

The normal street price on this lens is around 650.00.
