How many of you are running your merc (bosch) silver can type high pressure fuel pumps in the horizontal position instead of verticle? Any comments on what works best?

Mounted a lot of them both ways. Never had any comments or problems in either direction. Must be both ways work well.
Yea me too, I have mounted them both ways with no problems.

Thanks for the response. Mine are currently horizontal, they make a little noise occasionally. I may mount verticle to see if this lets the fuel completely load/fill the can to stop it.
US1, The twins project is up and running... thanks for your replies.

I just took one apart today, I cant believe the whole inside of the pump is a motor that is totally submerged in gas, sparking brushes and all.

What amazes me is the price for a tiny pump driven by a DC motor that is sure to fail eventually. The carbon bonds to the armature, shortening it out.
The pump is on top so any air pockets will be away from the brushes, hopefully. No oxygen then no problem.
Mounting it horizontaly could trap air near a brush.
The fuel pumps in your cars and trucks are the same, a motor immersed in gas. Mine are the old fashioned non fuel cooled electric and the old cam driven mechanical.
