I was talking to a guy at the local marine about gauges the other day, and he said NOT TO USE FARIA because they CATCH ON FIRE.....

First thing i thought was that they were wired inproperly,
he also said he had to replace the gauges of lots of newer boats, w/ faria gauges because they caught on fire.

Has anyone else had bad experiences w/ faria gauges? and is this a common problem??

Had them in my center console for about 6 years, no problems.

any gauge impropperly wired will have problems... faria are used in ALOT of boats and some of those have inferior wiring to support the gauges and their functions properly.. the gauges them selves are FINE never had a problem... not the most accurate or best looking but fire is a result of a short to ground without a ground protection fuse installed on the powerline causing the short... all gauge power wires should be fused to protect the harness and or gauges themselves but most arent as most accessory harnesses are fused on the motor 12-25' of wire length away so there is alot of areas th
