Had heads cut this winter. Put engine (88 2.4) back together and torqued heads to 38 ft lbs. Started engine yesterday and had slight leak at the top of port head. Tighten a little more and still have a very slight leak. I put the gaskets on dry and did not use any thread sealer on head bolts. Was this correct. I think if I tightened the head bolt a little more it would stop but I don't want to pull out the theads.

Just drips from top of head. Only ran it twice on the hose so far. Weather has turned ****ty here in Jersey.

check the head and block for flatness. i've lost too many 2.4 motor from head gasket leak to be comfortable with a leaker from the start. there's something wrong, find it and fix it. mine were one piece heads. if itjust leaking in the water jacket of a two piece head disreguard by BS.
