starting to rig my mirage ski racer and wondering what kind of speed she will get???? putting on my 2.4 from gpi and i think it was around 230 -240 hp as it pushed my vector to 91 mph with a 30 inline chopper...just wondering to expect.....
I would expect similar speeds with a heavier layup (91-95), maybe 100+ with a very light layup and good setup. Sometimes just the right recipe can produce crazy fast numbers...

I'm thinking more along the line of low 90's to high 80's if you prop it for big numbers. Depends on the boat though. If it's a light one it may run harder. that old Stream is more efficient than the Mirage will be under ideal conditions.
Still a lot of vairables there. Hard to really say what it will run without some more info. Hull weight, which bottom, prop pitch, etc...

with a mod 2.5 200 fishin mota on 2.1 gears and 30 pitch chopper he went 117.3 9300 rpm's at gps with only 6 minutes hose time on motor :

I had a 1992 with a carb 2.4 bridgeport, 26cc heads, 1.87 cle with Bob's cone, Bob's jack plate and 14.5 X 30 lab merc cleaver. On top end, I ran the plate up to water pressure started to drop and then bumped back down to where the pressure picked back up. Turned the 30 7800 and ran 105mph. When I first started the setup the boat only ran 94mph. It's all in the setup. I worked the trailing edges of the bottom a little. The boat picked up speed the higher you went with the engine. I want get into how it ran with a MOD VP ported bridgeport EFI with the same setup. But it would fly. I tried Hoss's, spinelli's and anything else made at the time, but if you want one of these boats to pull the big numbers all I can say is nothing came close to the Merc lab cleaver. If you have anymore setup questions ley me know.

I think low 90s is possible if it's 225 HP or more. We had a stock weight Collins built Ski Racer with a 200 ProMax and it would run 91-93 MPH with just me in it with a 29 OMC SRX on it. If I would have jacked it up more and thrown my 32 Cleaver at it, it may have gone more, but low 90s is certainly reasonable with a boat that's not too heavy and is set up decent. That was with a stock CLE.

I have a 94 ski racer with a 260 merc, it's turned 103 on a real good day, you will have to run a high pitch prop for that, I have found that the yamaha style choppers do better, I had a vector before this boat I tried a 30 pitch merc chopper, the yamaha style did a better job for me. Set up (motor height) plays a lot into it also. Good luck and be careful. Jimmy

I think somewhere in the mid 90's is where you're gonna be with your current motor and prop combo. The fella that bought my neighbors 96' Mirage put a 225 ProMax on it. He claims that he's running 102mph with a 34 Cleaver.......so breaking 100mph is entirely possible. However, I've heard that the pre-94' or 95's had a slightly different bottom and weren't quite as fast as the newer ones.

i first broke 101 with that same prop, but i pitch it up to a 34 thinking i was going to see some bigger numbers. but for $180 i spent on pitching the prop up to a 34, i only got 1 mph. makes me think if it was worth it.
