I had a customers boat here for the new add-ons. He got a new 30x15 Labbed Merc cleaver for it. The boat has a 2005 300X on it. I ran 106 on the boat GPS, and 105 on my handheld. It turned 6600 rpm and got to 102 in 1/2 mile. When he brought it down, he said it would only run 92 mph. I said he did'nt know how to drive it. I took it out, 92mph!
This was the last new 2005 300X I could find, but it had a torquemaster. The dealer swapped it for a Sportmaster. It was supposed to be a 1.62 gear. Turned out to be a 1.87 off a 225XS. It now has the 1.62. This is the fastest single engine 21 I've ever run. I think it's because of the labbed prop. Here's a few pics. http://img95.imageshack.us/img95/4025/herbsliberator106mphev0.th.jpg (http://img95.imageshack.us/my.php?image=herbsliberator106mphev0.jpg)

Dang Wildman...thats cook'n! Now make the customer do the same run while he's still at your shop, just to make sure your both on the same page. Yes,the site still has gremlins. I just got home with a new super-duper Hewlett-Packard computer system, set it all up, then went to Scream & Fly to see if it was partially my old computers fault. Well, it was'nt. Oh, well...

With the weight of the motor stern lift from the cleaver is probably a better chioce. He needs to put a 34 Hoss on it and see how it does.

I always wanted to try a cleaver on my Allison but every one talked me out of it? Those some great numbers out of a single for sure. Thats the same as most guys run an Allison SS with a 280!! Some are a bit faster. How did the cleaver get ya going real slow, what about midrange or is it a steady pull to the top? Im curious as to your engine hight also. Im just trying to figure how a cleaver reacts to tell if its something i should try. James

Cleavers work well on a cat, but it would probably be unsafe on an Allison. It has stern lift, which will cause your boat to want to walk sideways. This 21 Liberator probably weighs 2200-2300 rigged.

Gotcha,Though my Allison is a GS Elite and requires a prop with some stern lift compared to others that require less like a river rocket and such.My DR4 will start to crab at 85 I can steer with it but kinda sucks doing that its mostly for skiing and alround use anyway.I was interested because I read that Glen Renalds ran with a cleaver on his A boat. I would guess and say that the make and model of Cleaver would play a factor in this aswell. I noticed yours had a 15 inch diamiter were as i beleave the Mazco cleaver Glen ran had a diamiter of 14. The best prop for top end in stock form on a GS has proved to be the chopper11 varified buy several GS owners. Some say an ET but most of those guys never ran a chopper11. I have one on the way monday.i guess if given the oportunity to run a cleaver I would find out for my self. Some say they work great and have a nice feeling on an Allison. When theres nothing but prop in the water anyway whats to much stern lift.I would think that alls that would happen other than maybe crab walking a bit I would run with less poss trim. Ill try one one day there seems to be a few for sale all the time and if I didnt like it souldnt be a problem re selling. James
