Which would be the more powerful engine? The 06, 250 Verado, or the 06 225 EFI (3.0l)?

Both are "propshaft rated" engines, so technically the 250hp is more powerful than the 225hp by 25hp. As for which engine would be best for your specific application, well, you are going to have to provide more information about your rig.

It is a European boat, 20 ft long designed for speed, weighs approximately 2200 lbs and with a 225 EFI would reach about 73-75 MPH.

The 225 EFI you are referring to, is that a Merc 2 stroke 225 or the "Mercaha" 225??

For performance, my vote would be for the 2 stroke 225 Optimax.

go merc.. but now the question... is that the conventional EFI or the optimax 3 L ... conventional EFI can be made 300+ REALLY easy... optis and 4 jokes aret so easy to gain hp..

dont forget the extra weight on that 4 cycle and the poor fuel economy. go for the dfi merc.

I would like to emphasize that the engine in question is the 225 EFI 3.0 L (the final model of the 2 stroke EFI), and not the 225 DFI
