With my boat arriving from cali it has not been winterized at all....what is the suggested practice? Keeping my garage heated at night is going to start costing some major coin.
Also what oil is recommended for the gear case and the engine itself?
Mercury Premium Plus TC-W3 ?? Is this what most use?
This stuff for the gear lube? http://www.boatersworld.com/product/176640373.htm
Do people like the amsoils and such or do you just stick with the quicksilver stuff?
Also this engine is NOT an optimax or DFI engine correct? This is an EFI?
I keep trying to explain to the parts monkeys what a 300x is, they haven't heard of it, but its got to be the same as a 250xs right? LOL

no need to keep the garage warm...there is nothing in the motor to freeze up...how long is it going to sit before you use it next????

The quote at the bottom of the thread about the Triton bassboat running 96.7 is funny. The only way this might happen is if you had two 225's strapped to the back of that thing. I think your GPS was lying to you.

300X and 250Xs have diff. fuel inj. systems. 300x is E.F.I the 250XS is a D.F.I motor. That must have "snuck by" Simon, he know's his way around a Merc. 3 ltr.. The info. on the oil and the lube is correct.
Did you buy the 24 Progression LD from Calif.? Black and gray stripes?

I am going to have to remove that quote LOL 4th time I have had to explain it, It was said by someone on a 4x4 forum when I posted a picture of my boat.

cool, I had thought so, but wasn't 100% sure, it has been a while since I have helped my dad winterize an engine and his are all early 90's or late 80's so I would rather have been safe then sorry :)
