Thanks for the info on the heads US 1. . . About the rectifier, I touch the cables on the wrong side of the battery when hooking it up (just a spark, enough to know it was wrong). Last time I run the motor, the battry run down on me and didn't seem to pull all that strong on the upper end. Didn't want to hit the rev limiter. . . I was told that it was the rectifier due to sparking the cables which will never happen again!!!!!! learn by your mistakes!!!!! Any info will be app.and also , how much does one cost if that is the problem??????
Thanks again,
S/J

Wow!!! How can I find out for sure???? What would it cost to bring mine to 35???? I do a lot of hard river running and want to keep it nice and simple but need a little bit more performance, if that's possible. . . Also run on pump gas. . . Is 35 a good all around number?? Where can I get a complete manuel on this motor????? One more question, any ideas on the rectifier problem????? I sure do appreciate all the help you guys give me. I 'm learning and want to learn all I can. I read the S/F post everyday to see whats going on in the performance world of boating. . . I love it and have the need for speed!!!!!! I have some mods that I want to do to this motor. Somewhat the so call simple things (if there is such a thing) first. I not ready to set the motor on KILL yet. Again, thanks for the reply and info. Keep up the good work on the post guys. . . It's like what I tell my wife, baby you can make me scream, but you can't make me SCREAM & FLY!!!!!!!!!
Thanks,

Your tach has to work on either side of the rectifier for it to be good. How much compression does the motor have now.

Whoooooooooops, I did forget to mention that my tach did stop working!!!! I have a Merc tach, and it worked for a few runs and then stopped. . . I'm not able to check the compression at this time... When I get a chance I'll do that. I still think I have a rectifier problem though???? What's the cost on one??????
Thanks for the reply,
S/J
Yes it’s the rectifier. Just change it. Rickracer will have a good price for you.
