Some on here have talked about neon/led lighting in the past for inside the boat. I found these and thought they might work good for it, though I don't have them.

I would guess other places have them too, and LED should use little power. You can turn the sound activated thing off, just wire to a switch. I don't know if they are waterproof but I would be mounting them under something anyway.

I don't want to let the cat out of the bag with all of the "BLING" secrets, but these work very very well.

That would be cool, I was just thinking of lighting a small area. You could light up the whole boat with those big ones though.

I have an idea involving LED's & Fiberoptics to literally light up an entire boat. It would make everyone who now thinks they have bling on their boat feel ashamed about how little bling they actually have.

If it works, I will let you guys here know about it first.

Might be a couple weeks before I mess with it.

blue lights with flashing strobes from autozone...

I also had the continuous blue neons wrapping around the underside of my dash and cockpit lighting the rest of the boat, but not as bright. Got them at walmart.

I like the price on those you posted though sho, wish I ahd seen them earlier.

Lee's is definitely in another league though.

Orange , Blue, Green, White, Purple, Red, Yellow, Aqua, Pink

I bought the plain red ones after I read your other post.

I haven't installed them yet, but I like the idea of red "cockpit lighting" with the disco stuff turned off.

They are kind of heavy... but I don't have a lot of amps to spare. :(

Another issue might be if you don't have a white interior, you might want to fab some kind of white reflectors for them. If you mount them up under for example, you would get more light that way kind of like a 4' tube shop light. In fact I did that in my kitchen. I have a black hood over the stove and I used some foil like tape above the bulb, it helped. The tape is for furnace ducting. Or you could spraycan some white under there behind it, etc., unless they only shine one direction. Could even chop up some pvc pipe.

I used to troll the lake at night with a beverage all the time, but then everyone copied me and I quit doing it. Plus this force motor stinks trolling, I was going to plug off the weep holes somehow but they didn't make it easy to get to. I even bought a water pressure gauge for it and the block has a plug for it but you can't get down into the mid at the holes. I even considered tapping them on the outside and running a pipe down a few inches thus below the water off plane.

Hey I found some little lights in different colors, $6+ship, 4 LEDs each....don't know if that is good price or place to buy but could be a nice int light for a boat and low power. The show white, amber, blue, red; 5-12v.

I was looking at them on ebay but they wanted to charge a set fee for shipping that was more than what the lights were.

They have a bunch of LED 12V lights in the RV aisle at WalMart now.

Speaking of LED's, has anyone ever tried making their own LED nav. lights? Why are they ones on the market so expensive?

Don't know, but do know there is a coast guard reg about how bright the nav lights must be. They might have to use special LEDs to get that visibility X miles away I forget how many. And its for a boat, that is usually a good enough excuse from what I see.;) The super bright LEDs are much more if you buy bare ones. I'll have to look next time I got to walmart.
