What would be one of the best Subwoofer and amplifier in one? Ex. Bazooka.. in terms of power. Many thanks.

I know the expensive bazookas work pretty good, there are others like pyle and kenwood but I've never used those. I tried to buy a kenwood 8" the other day but it went too high. I have a cheap little rampage 8" in a car that works wonders with a stock or highpower deck, but it will never hurt your ears. I am going to replace that with a 10 in a box, after 7+yr of beating it and a couple of repairs the gain knob has given up from vibration. I'll try to fix it later, but can't complain. Would have been nice if they didn't mount the little amp board inside using the gain control on one end. I even put it in rental cars at one job I had, man was that nice.;)

My car has a single 10" bandpass and I don't like it, though it works good for one 10. I just found a rubicon 302 and need to figure out different subs for it to run. At least two 10s or more.

Is there any particular reason why you need a combo enclosure? If you really need a combo, I don't recommend bazooka, they sound ok, but they have wiring harness issues. I had one, the harness plugs into the enclosure, but it don"t have a very secure plug. Bumps, vibrations, etc. would cause the speaker to cut out and pop. Infinity has a Bass-Link, but a dealer told me Infinity was going to discontinue them. It's your choice, but I highly recommend a seperate amp and sub. J.L. Audio makes a pretty good line of equipment at a reasonable price. The sub line starts at about a hundred bucks for a good 10" and you can get a mono-block sub amp for about 250. With that amp, you don't need a crossover, frequency is for sub-only application. If you have any questions or need any help, feel free to pm me. B.D.

Some places sell amp/box combos too. Even the pawn shop here had one all wired and ready to go for pretty reasonable. Bigger is better if you have the room. One thing with the tubes is you are stuck with what you have, no changing subs or amps.

Don't waste your money. Buy them seperately.

If you only want something small, and UNDER 50 LBS, the powered Bazooka tubes are OK...

I know they are cheap, but has anyone tried these? http://www.mycarjams.com/car_audio/hazel/detail/PYPLTB12 I was thinking about two of those. They come in 10" too. Seems like they might be lighter as well. With my tube I put a trailer plug on it, I just pull it out if I need the room and it works great. In the car I put velcro in the feet, or you can strap them.

I think it will not last long in the harsh envionment of a marine application and will probably swell up after time if it isn't made of some sort of plastic.
I'm partial to the bazooka products myself.........the marine units take the beating in the harsh elements of marine use........they are proven in the So. Fl. weather exterme heat and saltwater exposure..........based on my experience, I have no complaints other than securing the plug/connectors in place with a cushion clamp to keep it in place. Good luck.
Peace!FIG

True, my boats never sit in the water except sat. to sun. maybe, and never get wet unless it rains on that weekend. If I had one mounted inside it would stay dry but I can see where you have more moisture there.

Once Kenwood was making 7x10s, they were raised up a little to fit a 6x9 hole. A friend had four of those in his boat with a stout amp and it was loud. Sounded good, didn't have a big thump but you could party to it. They were all cut in to the boat, no enclosures.

Old school free air, I bet these 6x9 would hammer in a boat. This is the kind of stuff we put in back when I was heavy into that and they cranked. They don't repace subs for sure, but they do work well and even better with subs. I would bid on them but have no use for them right now.

I just bought a 12" DVC 1000w Infinity sub in a q-logic ported box for well <$50 TMD on ebay from here (Ciruit City's store), like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Infinity-12-Subwoofer-Q-Logic-Enclosure-Bundle_W0QQitemZ220087147056QQihZ012QQcategoryZ32823QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Have to read the description really close on these things however. If one like this went reasonable it should really put out with amp and all: http://cgi.ebay.com/12-INFINITY-SUBWOOFERS-ROCKFORD-FOSGATE-1200W-AMP_W0QQitemZ320087842556QQihZ011QQcategoryZ32822QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I mean if you get it cheap enough who cares if the box falls apart after a year or two, the boxes bare have gone for about $20 shipped for a single 12". Providing you can mount the box somewhat protected in your boat, and have room for it. With an HP OB motor it might be better to make sure you get a class D mono sub amp, they take less power to run. Now I get to try this soundstream on the 12 at 300Wrms bridged and see what it does.

Yeah I know it's not marine....but wouldn't it be something if you mounted two of these little jet engines on the back of your boat?:D LOL! Or if you could whip them out at the sandbar. That is a 10" sub and has a passive radiator it says. Even has a remote level control. I keep waiting to see fire belch out the back:cool:.
