Hi all, Let me start by saying that you folks have a great site. I have enjoyed lurking while trying to gain insight to my next purchase. Due to divorce, I had to sell a 21' Stingray/350 Mag combo that I truly enjoyed. Time marches on and I need another boat.

I live near Charleston SC and the water conditions at the harbor and the nearby lakes are typically 1-3' chop. Looking for an 250-300 o/b 21-24' that will carry a family of 4 and do all the associated water activities. (ski,wake/knee boards, tube) Performance is also a large factor in this equation. I dont need 100 mph but a 50mph barge is out of the question(Will re-prop as necessary). I guess its all about compromise. If the family can play and I can pseudo race (70-80 mph), I certainly would be a happy man. Are there any suggestions that might fill the bill? I'm fine with used. In fact, I prefer it. Hope this does not start some kind of argument. Its an honest question posted by someone that is trying to make a wise decision based on valued opinions of the performance experience here.

Again, thanks in advance for the suggestions
Dan

hello Doo Dad!

I am from your historic Town.

A Liberator that Randy sells could handle everything around your area.

You going out in the harbor! It get a little more than 3 ft! I have seen it and the Lower Lake (Moultrie) at 6 ft or better! In bad weather! So i don't see you out in bad weather!!!!

But anyway.

The former V-bottom you had was the perfect boat, except the "SPEED"

A Donzi might fit your bill!

But ask your self the question?

Outboard? Inboard?

I would think something along the lines of a 24 superboat or 24 progre$$ion would make you happy. Plenty of speed with a 300x or xs. Welcome aboard!

21 liberator, or if you are thinking I/O, I have to agree with Big Al, the 22 donzi is probably the best handling I/O performane boat I have ever driven. If I ever go to putting the motor on the inside of the boat, that will be my boat. Hopefully some of the SOB guys will chime in too. I don't ahve any personal expereince with them, but I have seen some good running boats out of them guys in the N.E in their SOB's.

Check under Hulls Over 20' . Tom Foley has a very clean 22' Velocity with a 300 ProMax that would foot the bill very well for you .Rich Martin 018:D

22 Classic or the 22 Shelby GT

TRUE BLUE: Donzi's new 22 Shleby GT speedster.
For those of a certain age, the name Carroll Shelby means blue racing stripes, smoking tires, victory at LeMans and the name Cobra. But while Shelby was terrorizing Ferraris on the racetrack in the early '60s, Don Aronow was making the Donzi boat brand virtually unbeatable in offshore racing. Honoring both legends, Donzi is now offering the 22 Shelby GT, the first boat to bear the famed Shelby name. Leaner and meaner than the original Donzi 22, the Shelby GT is instantly recognizable for its color scheme, which is reminiscent of the Shelby GT-350, low-profile aluminum race fairing and fiberglass air intake scoop. Under the striped engine cover is a big-block V-8, the MerCruiser 496 HO. With it, this 22-footer can top 80 mph with race-bred handling. A deep-V hull tames ocean swells as easily as the Cobras and Shelby GT-350s dominated the racetracks. Price: $65,000 with the standard 375-hp 496 Bravo I; $71,000 with the 425-hp 496 HO. www.donzimarine.com (http://www.donzimarine.com)

I realy like that Activator and the Cougar depending if ya like Tunnel hulls or Vees. If money was no object this bad boy for 90 large would be in my garage. Thanks for the heads-up all. Burning up the search/find features looking at these suggestions. Keep it going.

Starting over, costs are a concern. Would be nice to have an EXTRA 90 large to get what I want instead of what I can afford. (Getting rid of the ex...priceless)

The velocity 22 is more along the lines of my search. Posted request for more info. Lets see what else turns up.

Thanks
Dan
