I have a 17' tunnel. is it hard to convert to v8 jet. transom rated for 140 o.b. I love this boat, I just want more.I am buying a 79 sonic with 460 and berkley pump,so I will have parts available.

post some pics, mainly of the transom, and underside infront of the transom.

Hmmm, I don't think it is possible without alot of glasswork. The Ebko was a true tunnel with no pod for a jet. Unless you have one of the 14ft boats, I think they were a tunnel to flat transition. If that is the case, I don't know how feasable it would be.
Post some pics of your project. If you do a search here you will find lots of Ebko stuff I have posted in the past.

I am pretty sure that boat is a GlasTech Tunnel.
Here is an back of an Ebko Stinger...How would you load the pump if it were a jet?

This is the bottom of a Sleek Craft tunnel hull jet boat. Note the center pod that houses the engine and jet pump. Also the hole for the jet pump intake.

That's exactly how we do it too.

I am a freakin idiot!the damn things upside down!now i get it.but does the pod have to run the whole length.may be better off focusing on 79 sonic!can pick it up next week!

Look at the depth of the sponsons on the Ebko, i think they were only like 3 inches or so. You could fab a pod on there pretty easy. Chances are you will have glass experience if you are considering an old hull like this.

it has an old chrysler on it now, probably 250-300lbs and I will eliminate all seats except for 2 front and I think capacity is 4or5 people,I think oldsleekolds is right,Ill probably drown her!I have that chrysler & a 95 merc, Ithink I will use those to barter a 150 or 175 and go pick up that 21' sonic next week.It has problems too! something about a starter that runs in reverse? and once again I will be right back on here trying to hop her up!!

it probably has a reverse rotation starter on it. depends where it's mounted, and if the motor is a reverse rotation. usually a jet is a standard rotation, but if the starter is top mounted it usually is a reverse rotation unit. i work at a starter and alternator rebuilder in Waukesha, WI. if you've got questions, call me at 262 424 3880 thanks jay wagner
