What should I look for when I start on the bottom? Anything special about the bottom or should it just be nice and straight with sharp lines?

Just straight with nice edges. There was no designed "lip" like the Allisons have. You may find one of the tunnel decks (not any of the critical sponsons or running surfaces) has a slight dip about 3-4 feet from the back (can't remember which deck). That was in the mold and was fixed at some point, but some of the early ones have it. It's not critical to fill or fix that - it didn't seem to make a difference in how the boat drove....just letting you know if you find it. If it's something you want to fill in and straighten, it wouldn't hurt.
