For over a year, Parker has been mentioning the massive collection of slides and photos he has from his dad, most dating back to the most interesting times in racing - the 50s, 60s, 70, etc. We're talking photos of the coolest stuff here - and thousands of them... Many thousands. Apparantly, Parker's dad was a lot like me in the fact that he took a lot of photos.

Parker warned me there would be a lot of photos, and the box arrived today. Weighing in at close to 50 pounds and filled with an estimated 20,000 slides, this will be an incredible effort. I looked at some of these slides already and they are incredible.

All of the slides and photos will be scanned professionally, and at very high resolution, then color-corrected. The photos will look as good as the day they were taken.

I'm going to have all of it scanned and hosted on Scream And Fly. That's right, all of it. We're going to set aside all the needed server space to do it, and a dedicated gallery as well. It will certainly take time, but in the end, thanks to Parker and his dad Scream And Fly will have the most amazing historic boat racing photo collection.

Thank you Parker - now I have my work cut out for me. :D

You sure have your work cut out for you. Thanks for taking the time to do this, and thanks to Parker for sharing his family photos.
It was quite a chore when I tried to do this for him...Jody had to finish them up cause Parker wanted to get this stuff up so bad! I didn't really do any correction on them either! hehe

I may have them professionally scanned, then run some macros on one of my editing machines here for the color correction and other things. We'll see, it's going to take a while though.

very cool Greg. I talked to Parker 4 times this week and each time heard about the slides how much this gallery is gonna kick azzzzz!!!! Like Lake racer said, until you have done it, you have no idea how big a job this is... and we only did a few hundred.

Thanks Greg and Parker, that is gonna be one helluva addition to S&F.

Wow, it would be kool to categorize them by manufacturer through the years. Then you would be able to see the evolution of the boats/motors as the years went by. There's probably some very unique Allison, Checkmate, Hydrostream, Sleekcraft, etc. vintage pictures in that collection!!
