we are haveing a stock 280 showdown for top end,must run sportmaster and pump gas, so far we have warren duke, andy driver,and yours truely dez nuts if there is anymore interested in getting in on this post here we plan to do this at hoilday park in the very near future will post date's for the spectators. keys dave:rolleyes:

i am not very good with pic's on here but andy driver won at jasper last year in 1 class don't remember witch and warren duke is a local out of ft lauderdale fla who just ran 128.3 with a stock 280 and i am going to give him a tuning with mine.:D keys dave

andy we know you can out drag us there is no dought about that but your the one that was curious about the top end, just be carful til you get used to it and make sure the boat doesn't want to fly bow high you will be ok you have enough seat time to do it no dought just go at it easy at first and peddal into it easy the first couple times to get the feel of it.there is no dought in my mind that that boat will run in the high 20's with a good prop and setup maybe even faster.beside;s we have to get even for you beating evryone at riverranch.:D keys dave

I don't believe there is a boat short of a hydro that will run 130 mph with a STOCK 280 even with 260 electronics. A stock 280 does not have a 1" spacer either, but it would take a lot more than that to run 130 on a stv, quater master, mirage, 1/4 shot, Allison, Hydrostream or whatever.

That is not a spacer, it is your reed adapter plate! A 1" spacer goes between the reeds & reed adapter plate, sorry you don't have one.

the 280 doesn't come with a spacer thats why i said you are aloud one that way it is fair for everyone and we are running stock sportmasters and if you don't beleive they will run 130 come down and see i am sure you can and it would do you good to get out of the cold:D sersouisly i know my boat will i haven;t yet but i have never ran a 34 yet but have been over 126 with a 32 on the limiter so i know it will go alot faster with a good 34 off the limiter if you can't make it you will hear about it soon and there will be enough witness's to confirm it.keys dave

Dci I would love nothing more than to take you up on the offer but I have to sell the boat remember.If not I would have challenged anyone in the country stock 2.4 to stock 2.4.I know I could have run probably 107-108 with a larger prop than the 30 I used to run 101.

I hope to be there with a 20 action and modified BP.Thats a BIG ...HOPE:D just a play boat though,not seriuos about top end with it.I hope to run close to 100 on its best day.

Lee these guys run the motor to the transom at rediculous engine hights.I think there is no doubt that 129-131 is going to happen with these setups of spacer and unlimted computer.Most people would never try to raise the motor this high and run.His name should be He's nuts like Driver said earlyer.

I say come all bring all we can run evErything that waNts to show up. It will be a runwhatyabrung thing. We can even get a barge with a striper pole and get some of the local talent to come out from one of the lacal strip clubs for a small donation i bet. There will be plenty of people there with handheld gps's so anyone who wants to run can just plan on a lifeline jacket to be mandatory requirement for top end pass's if you don't have one someone there will loan you one to wear.we have to keep this thing safe don;t what anyone getting hurt or to see someone wreck there boat for this.if you don't feel perfectly safe going fast you shouldn;t be in this. safty first.there is nothing to prove here it's just a bunch of friends bustin balls and there is nothing at stack but braggin rights so keep that in mind and if you do want to run you will be RUNNING AT YOUR OWN RISK JUST WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT, THANKS KEYS DAVE:rolleyes:

may be a little change in location of the runs might make it moore haven there are alot better ramps more parking and less gators there are some real nice long straight aways south of more haven and people can see from the shoreline also there is less boat traffic and airboaters to worry about just trying to cover all the base;s on safty here would hate to be making a pass and have a airboat with 25 people come out of the sawgrass in front of me and being we are going to do this on a weekend there will be alot of boats and people out at the park just my 2 cents. keys dave:confused: ps there looks like there may be another q shot entering the topend shotout.

I usually do not post anything negative, but in this case I have to.
I still say a STOCK 280 with a 1" spacer & a raised rev limiter will not run 130, Parker is more realistic with his 120. If you run much over 120, it aint STOCK.

it looks like we are running out of time we have a get together in the keys on the 2nd of march and that looks like about the time we would be ready to do this maybe if we get our props back before the weekend of the 24th we will do it then but the next weekend is the keys run and i will be here for that and after that it is getting late for andy driver to make it because he has to get ready for race season so it looks like if we don't do it before the 2nd we will be doing it without andy but i will have the q-shot up and running by the keys run so we will see what happens by then.keys dave:confused:

we will know witch boat is faster very soon i am picking up a q-shot today and weill have it rigged and running before march 2 so we will see what the top end difference is if any will take a day or 2 to figure it out with setups but shouldn't be that tough to get it dialed in will post updates on a new tread when it starts happening. keys dave

A old style Qshot( like skeetD has) or a new QSHOT like HOTSHOTS/DCI's where Jack has made all the bottoms changes and added tunnel extensions!

I would highly suggest that if your goin to run top end it be one of his with tunnel extension/bottom changes cause there is big difference in handling and speed...:p :p :p

I've watch Jack/Ray make probably a (100) 1/4 Unlimited passes at 125-135+ and the boats are very calm...

seems like the run will be a decent turnout... guys why don't you just make it a "STOCK" speed run, not just 280s... work the setups on everything, see what the big numbers can be for stock 2.4 200s, 2.5 200s, 225 promaxes, 260s, 280s... I would say drags but dave has set that bar quite high... then with the 3.0 liters in the PM X and XS series...

Guys this was originaly brought up because Warren and Dave have been battleinng it out for quite a while.They wanted to see what the 280 can actualy do.However I dont think there is that much organization in this thing to run "class's".Its run what ya brung and make a pass when its your turn.If ya have a 3.0 then run it if ya have a 2.4 then run it.I think in the end its all about bragging rights.Post your numbers here after the weekend and have fun.

Oh and by the way Dave I got pulled over last night comeing home from delivering you the boat.Glad I didnt get cash from you they asked if I had any guns,knifes hand granades,large amounts of cash,drugs etc ..and that they were going to search my truck with my permission.That would have sucked to try an explain all that money.:D

One important issue needs to brought up here and this is only a suggestion.

Yall need to have a drivers meeting before anyone goes into the water to organize the running order.
You cant have every running at once like at River Ranch and washing up the water.Its saftey first and nobody should be in the water running while the person at bat so to speak is makeing his pass's.Maybe give each driver a three pass attempt and then the next boat heads out etc....

we will talk to everyone about running order there will only be one guy running at a time and noone goes out or moves until that boat is back in and showed his or her top speed would rather not do side by side racing for safty reasons but i am sure there will be some of that by some guys anyway after the topend pass's witch is fine as long as they do it in a wide open area and use some common sense.thanks and hope this turns out to be as good as i think it will.keys dave:rolleyes:

Dave's exactly right on the boats not moving deal... you cant imagine what a roller does to a boat at 140. At the rumble, I had a quartermaster literally pull out in front of me at 132 and luck carried me across his wake. Even people idling around with boats on the sidelines is a problem. Especially for a v bottom. Just a thought, Dixon

There is some twin engine boats coming i would say they will be running there is usally a couple of 21 skaters with 280's that come to these kind of things i would be suprised if they are not there and i know toad from extreme powerboats said he is coming in his 28 skater with twin 300x's so there will be some there and they all like to run. keys dave:rolleyes:

that was the stv this morning hoping to splash the q shot some time tomorrow have everything together except the fuel system and gearcase i am going to run the same motor that i just ran on the lightning and went 130with so we have something to compare with that was with a 32 going to run the same prop as i did on the lightning and see what the difference is if any should be a few days before i have any good idea;s but tommorow should be wet just going to take it slow for a little bit and try to figure out engine height and setback before i really wing it but if all feels good tommorow i should have some idea.keys dave:rolleyes:
