Just bought a Stratos and there is some oxidation in the back portion of the boat. I have some buffing equipment, but was wondering what I needed to do to get a halfway decent shine back in this area of the boat. I know I probably won't get it all back, but anything is better than nothing. Thanks for any and all advice, Skip

A lot of people have different opinions when it comes to restoring fiberglass, however, The best thing I have found by far is a product called Aquabuff 2000. http://www.aqua-buff.com/site/478459/product/AB2000

IMHO, yes, but by no means is it the only good product. There are some really good threads in the fiberglass restoration/detailing section of this site with some great info if you want to try something else. I read about it on another site and was impressed with the pics and results so I picked some up. My brother and I took it to his 1986 donzi that was dark blue and pretty oxidized and it came out looking like new. We also used it on his chrome mufflers coming out the back that were discolored and slightly rusted (it is an I/O) and they look new too. I am totally sold on it even though it says in the description "for light oxidation"... his was not light oxidation, and it looks amazing. I think they may make a stronger one called aquabuff 1000 too, but I ahve not sued it.

However, the best restoration I ever did I did the old fashioned way; wet sand and buff. It took 2 weeks and was perfect when I got done, but knowing what I know now, I probably would have started with the aqua buff and if it did not get where I wanted it to be, then gone with the wet sand. Anyway, checkout some of the threads in the detailing and care section, http://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=46 and check out some other opinions and have at it.

here are a couple to start with
