the 300 is the same block as a 250. the 300x is an opti block . the 300 spins 6400 the 300x spins 7000. the intake is way different it has a snout like a 2.5 the 300 has a butterfly setup .. all the electric is different . but besides all the above its the same . lol

Jerry is wrong. The 300 promax makes 300hp while the 300x makes around 320hp. There are some differences such as injection, coils, etc. The weight is the same. It is not the same block as the 250. Both of these engines are a 3.0 liter. I think Jerry is thinking about the new 300xs optimax which is still a different block than the 250.

jerry is what ? think again , the promax 300 makes about 285 hp not 300 . the promax 300 is the same block as the 250. the 300x is the same block as the opti max , which make about 325 hp .and the 300x has an oil pump as the 300 does not .

Why does it say on all mercury dealers that the 300 promax makes 300hp? haha I guess they are all wrong and jerry is right. Same thing with the 300x's max rpm, sounds a little high after reading the mercury specs for that engine. But then again, this is jerry were talking about.

The 300X makes it power at 6800 up to 7000. The limiter on these engine is set at 7000. 300 Pro Max limiter is 6400. And last thing, Jerry is NOT wrong!!!:) Chuck

Jerry is correct. The 300X used an opti block. If you look at the powerhead, the bosses for the Optimax air pump are there but, are not drilled and tapped for the pump.
