Hey guys my sound system just went bad. The head unit is done and my 4 6x9 speakers are junk. Im lookin for a new system that has alot of bass and clarity. This thing has to have some kick in it. Im looking to spend like 700-800 on this. I also need an amp. I listen to hip-hop, rap, and some metal but i really like that kick. Any and all suggestions will be greatly appriciated.

On a side note, I need to buy a complete set. An amp, 4 6x9 speakers and a head unit in a weeks time :o

Thanks,
JAY

I bought some eclipse 6x9s and put them in my car but i cant say enough good things about them. I run them on a 600 watt sony amp and they really sounds amazing.

I dont have much experience with the marine stuff but if your putting car audio in there im sure i can give you plenty of pointers. If you want to take your time shopping you can probably get a really nice system for 800.

Speeks for itself!!!!

ALPINE!!
Now www.Crutchfield.com (http://www.Crutchfield.com) is now a autorized dealer.
this is very important when you have a warranty problem as we learned the hard way with my wifes flip screan.

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-G36IqqKeLRl/cgi-bin/ProdGroup.asp?search=Alpine+VENDORID500&searchdisplay=Alpine&osp=&skipvs=T&g=300

Done a lot of business with Alpine over the last 10 years.
You just can't beat it!

And for aboat no need to go crazy just get a middle level head unit, some good speakers, maybe a amp with a sub.

i just spoke to the guy and it sounds good.... Blaupunkt is cheap man. It looks like 2 blaupunkt gtx693's for 120 bucks and one blaupunkt pcwb1000 for 40 bucks and im pretty sure those are marine. The only thing really getting me down is the head unit

Here's what I installed.

2 - 6x9 RCA's in boxes. $70 (pair)
1 - 12" JL Audio sub in sealed inclousure. $109
1 - 400 watt Crunch amp $99
1 - Clarion m235 head unit $189
1 - Optima yellow top battery $0 (freebee from work)

200watts @ 2ohm to Sub
100watts @ 4ohm to each to 6x9's

Have to admit it sounds great to me. Went with the sealed enclousure because I prefer a tighter lowend (don't we all) as a ported gives you more rubble IMO.
He reccomended the 6x9 RCA's and do they kick out some sound's.
All speakers are composite materials. No paper

All for around $450 bucks from my local audio dealer.

I'll get some pics of my install soon

yeah, please do.... all that for 450??
ill check into it.... How is the bass with that? 450 for everything sounds really nice. I'd serious consider that setup

I'll second Alpine, I have a head unit I put in my truck in 1999. Was about 400 bucks in 1999. The thing still works great never, repeat never had any problems with the head unit. I also have a mono Alpine amp driving 2 12" Memphis subs and they get down. I think the amp is an Alpine MRP-350. The Amp is suppose to only be 2 ohm stable but, I am running it at 1 ohm on dual 4ohm voice coil subs wired to the amp at a 1ohm load. As long as you mount the head unit in the glove box or one of those things you see them enclosed in an offshore boat you should have no problems marine radio or not. And as long as your speakers are made with polyproplene and rubber or santoprene rubber, no paper you should be O.K. Put your Amp in a good dry area and any Amp should be fine also. Good luck!

I will 3rd Alpine, but...this is in a boat right? As soon as you add alot of equipment to it, the battery will not take it ! example...I plan on running a 3500 watt Momo amp to 2 JBL 1600 watt Power series subs  What I need is 3 Yellow top Optimas and a 200-235 amp alternater, this is in an exteded cab truck!

I seen some Alpine 9852 decks on ebay for ..buy me now @ like 200 bucks, get a MTX 200 watt kit----12" sub, 12" box ad a 200 watt amp and I would still add another battery and carry a ya know , one of those booster thingys ! Mobile Boaster Pack

POLK are the best I have heard so far.........Have the Infinities in the truck, still like the sound of the Polks better.

600 watts to the Polks.........

1000 watts to the 10" Pioneer.......(think I will have to up-grade the Pioneer though)..........but there is no room for a 12"

of my installed equipment.

I mounted the amp and battery charger/tender on the front well of the bow. It is about 4 feet in under the bow from dash.
I used aluminum angle to secure the sub box in place as well.
Battery is strapped to the floor.
6x9's are not mounted as I set them up as needed when beached and partying with others.

I had the following speakers in the 6 boats I've owned : Infnity, Clarion, MB Quart, kenwood , Pioneer, JBL and JL audio

The hands down winner is JL audio - nothing sounds or wears like em. Actaully all of them were satisfactory except the Clarions, they're junk - every new boat I got came with them and they all blew out in 6 months.

Hey guys, just got back from Arkansas to see the boat and the sound system was FANTASTIC. The max volume on the kenwood went up to 35 and i was able to get it up to 33 without distortion. Once I hit 34 the bass started to screw with it and at 35 the bass totally messed up the sound. I have to say I'm very pleased with this setup.

Thanks to all that helped,
JAY

Congrats on the buy, sound like you got a really sweet audio system!!
Is your kenwood a marine or car head unit? I'm thinking about going with the kenwood KDC-MP235 since I cant find any marine ones. I was also told the car head unit are more reliable and would work with no problems.
Thanks
