Miami is a huge show in so many ways, and the displays, boats, and overall atmosphere of the show demand a wide angle lens. My widest lens is 17mm and it's not enough, so I ordered the awesome Nikon 12-24 AF-S F4 (http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php?cat=1&grp=5&productNr=2144#) "super wide" zoom. We'll see how well this one works, but I think it will really help.

good choise but pricey. im going for the toklin 11-24 f4 at 499. it seams to be close to the nikon which i cant justify as a hobbist. like you my 18-200 or the 18-36 is not wide enough for boat show pics.

The Tokina 12-24 was a consideration, but it's not an AF-S lens, so autofocus will be a bit noisy. That's a consideration for me at media events (during presentations, etc.).

That lense works sweet. We ended up getting one here at work for the D200. Here's a little sample. ;)
