I'm looking for a good prop to run with my 16' box tunnel aluminum flatbottom. The motor is an OMC 3 cyl 70hp. The aluminum 17P that I have now wants to ventilate badly after 3/4 throttle and when I go into a turn. Water pressure is at 20# at WOT so the motor shouldn't be too high.

From my limited knowledge of props, I need a prop that has a lot of cup built into the trailing edge to maintain good bite on the water. The local shop has an OMC 17P SST stainless prop for cheap that looks like it has a good amount of cup built in.

What are some others that I need to look at?

look for a viper or if you have a good amount of rpm a srx by omc something stainless will help

Forgot to add that the prop shaft is about even with the bottom of the boat and the motor is on a 6" setback. Tach is not working (see technical discussion) so RPMs is a guess right now until I get that fixed. I will not be buying a prop until the tach is working.

If any of you guys have ever seen the box tunnels like they run in the LA and TX marsh, it's just like those. Not a true tunnel

look for a 13 spline "srx". 23 pitch? Sometimes they are floating around here

I'm thinking a 15P or 17P with a good amount of cup is a starting point

I've got a 13 spline thru hub 11 x 23 custom 3 blade cleaver that may work. Interesting little prop that was ran on a little bass boat. Neat prop.

I don't know, a Yami 40 spun it pretty good. Where in NC?

Yep, just my luck :( I went through G-Vegas several times this year duck hunting...if I had only known then.
