Just thinking back... One year after the introduction of the 300XS, and we really don't seem to know much about how this motor performs. Merc starting shipping in July/Aug of '06 I believe.

Is this typical? or does it say something about how so-so it is? I'm guessing sales are probably fairly low (hundreds, not thousands) I know it takes time to figure out setups, but I would have expected someone to be ranting and raving about it. For example, it should be able to run 100+ on my Stroker bass boat, when the 250XS' are generally running 93-96, a few max out at ~101 mph. I just haven't heard much.

Your thoughts are welcomed!

The 300XS performs right on par with a 300X. Randy Corson (Wildman) has many reports on its performance. :)
