Sam -

Do you recall when you gave me that 100 MPH test drive in your old Allison SS2000? It would have been back in 1997 or 1998 when I was going to school in Chicago. I believe the motor was a 225 Promax or a 225X? Was it a short midsection? Was the motor stock? What prop were we running? 30 Merc Cleaver? Labbed?

Reason I'm asking is I was super impressed with that rig and thought that motor would be wonderful on a XR2002.

Thanks,

Mike,
I believe the boat was a stock 225 Promax. A 32 yamaha style prop could have been the prop. I had a Grand Sport with a 225 that ran 96 mph. So a SS2000 with the 225 would hit 100-105 easily.

Brad's almost exactly right. It was a stock 225 (not X model) with a 15" midsection. It was one of the very first SuperSports built (one of the first 5). A 1998 Model Excel full side steer with a 15" 225 ProMax. Stock motor all the way through. Stock ECU, stock SportMaster. We were running a 29" OMC SRX (box stock) prop. It ran right at 100 on the speedo (which when I verified the Medallion speedo against radar, that particular speedo was only off by .6 MPH at 110 when I put the 280 on it so we were running within .5 MPH of 100). That particular boat ran 104-105 with my 32" Lab Cleaver. That was a great boat. A lot of fun.
