i was told that there are different gear cases on the 250 opti some has seal and shaft crosion issues and you are supposed to grease on a regular basis every 50 hours , and you have to pull the gear case

whats the different between the fleet master and the torque master ?

Well, I know that mercury makes several cases for these motors. They include the Torque-Master, the Fleet-Master and the Sport-Master. Someone else can jump in on here but they are designed for different speeds/applications. The Torque-Master being on the low side. As far as pulling the lower unit off for corrosion, I've yet to experience that but my motor isn't even a year old yet.

Important note.
Sportmaster is the only lower with the hardened shafts!
And is the only unit for over 85mph

Greesed???

But if under 50mph torque tab will not be a issue.

Sounds like Torque master is your baby.

Yeah, the torque tab on mine is flat. Then again hydraulic steering is rather nice..... It's a little stiff when the lower unit is buried, but once up to speed and out of the water you can turn the motor with one finger.
