Merc is selling new 4 blade ET's at the same price as the old 3 blades?

Someone may want to check for a pulse in the Fond du Lac accounting office. This ain't right. I say they up the 4 bladers 200 and drop the 3 blades the same. Whaddaya say boys?

Thanks Al,
One more question what benefit does the satin finish have over the polished???The pro finished comes polished, but is non labbed, meaning it is not thinned or blueprinted.the labbed will usually run a couple more MPH and turn around 200 more RPMs with the satin finish (less shiney).Do a internet search as i have seen these non labbed Pro ETs selling for $709.00 (internet special),cant remember where?Again they still havent realesed them to the public as far as i know

not to sidetrack the thread, but how much (if any) should I prop down going from a 3 blade et to a four? I have never run a 4 blade, but regularly run a 30ET. would I need to look at a 28, will it make a difference swinging another blade in RPM's? Thanks for the indulgence of a ignorant question.

It looks like you have the H.P I run the same pitch in a 3 blade and 4 blade.... 4 blade for me carries a load and has the better hole shot than the 3 blades less than 1/2 mile slower

stoker2001
01-04-2007, 07:13 PM
Not starting any rumors, but i heard from testing that allegably has been done that you will be able to run higher transom Heights then three blade ETs without loosing efficiency/slip,hence you should be able to turn the same RPMs as the threes (pitch for pitch).I ordered mine in a non labbed version, which might be a mistake:confused:These Pro ETs will be the new X7 alloy.Merc claims it is 30%stronger and four times more durable then conventional stainless steal. http://sites.mercurymarine.com/pls/portal/docs/PAGE/PROPS/PRODUCTS/NEW%20PRODUCTS/ENERTIA-1.PDF

Well,i called Scott Reichow to rattle his cage about these ET4s and this chit is getting old as he says sometime in March now:confused: How ludicrous is it for Merc to announce these last February at Miami boat show, they should be ashamed:o Just need to vent as Jan and Feb is the only time i really have to test and tweek props, not to mention the weather out here in Cali has been bitchen.I am thinking about giong another direction:(

There ya go Stoker ya bought one proof enough!:D You lucky sod im betting that things going to be a fun prop!!If ya go to Shasta I may see you there but not in my GSE.The _ricken insurance companies up here said if I take my boat to California and they find out they will cancel my policy! I tryied everywere same results. If you live in the US you are restricted as to how many Provences you can go and in Canada the same with the States and Cal aint on it! Bunch of crap. So I may Fly down anyway and flip burgures or something? Ive never been a bank Rat before but I could take lots of video of you rippen it up with your new PRO ET

Looks a lot like a SC4 by Performance.http://www.performanceprops.com/propeller.html JamesI have tryed one of there four blades and it didnt work well on my application, the blades were real thick compared to the new Pro ET.Thats not to say Tim and Billy couldnt build me a four to kick ass, cause i know they could,i just hate sending them 3000 miles multiple times to get dialed in.With this new alloy, hopefully i can chop wood with some reliability and post some good topend #s

Im thinken the same way.I have the DR4 of Billys and it rocks! The design works real good for every thing on my GSE. For an alrounder I love it because they are so thick. They sure are! You wont sling blades with a performance prop!!! I am hopeing that with a good 4 blade thats lighter the top end # will inprove over most 4 blades. I think if tests are faverable I wouldnt have to go down a pitch or two and still get a hole shot better than a 3 blade in a 30. The best props for my boat for top speed and hole shot are 30,s. Any lower and Im on the limiter to soon. I would like a 30 4 blade that could compare in top end to the choppers and if im right the Pro et may be the one! When ya going to try it? Is a 28 what you would run in a 3blade also? James

Ran the 28 PRO ET4 yesterday and it rocks. Was able to jack the motor to the moon and still gain efficiency, were the et 28 three would loose it.Was able to finese 90mph in less then ideal water (to flat).Wont be able to pull any slalom skiers, but real happy considering this is a big heavy tub and slip was a sweet 9.2%http://www.hotboat.com/image_center/data/500/medium/1052delta_hooky_020.jpg

What motor ya useing with it? Also were was you rpm at 90 I have a 225 promax and would need to spin a 28 to 6700 to get 90 I would think. If I can jacker up that most likely wouldnt be a problem. My DR4 at 3000ft I can go 85 at 6500 but thats realy pushing the hight factor:eek: Do you notice a wieght differance compared to other props? Oh ya grasshopper whants to know more but says too many Questions already.:D James

Are you saying that you ran it on the 22 Stoker ?Yes,The Stoker, the mirage would run 90 on three cylinders:D The RPMs was 6000 to 6100 with the Merc 250XS Optimax and sporty case with 1.62 ratio. The Pro ET does feel real light for having four blades, but the trailing edges are thicker then ET three blades that i have seen
