Need opinions/links for cabin and cockpit lighting

Sometime this winter my boat is getting completely rerigged. Right now, the two small lamps in the cabin don't work, so they are coming out. I'm not sure what my options are for lighting. The cabin is a V-berth setup, about 7-8' long. I think I'd like some general light in the cabin rather than spots. I'll probably put some kind of foot light where you step down into it as well, probably wired to the deck lights.

Here's the cabin so you have an idea of what I'm dealing with:

Then the cockpit or deck area needs lighting too. Here's what I need to light up:

It would be nice to have colored lighting, like the neons I've seen in other rigs, but probably in LED's. Not sure if I want to stick with white for intensity/output or go with a light blue. Due to the narrow beam, I don't want anything that sticks too far out off the gunwale though. Flush mount would be really nice.

I'm not sure exactly what you want but I agree, I would try to go with LED or even CF. I have been shopping and I have seen LED Christmas lights.....and LED nightlights, both reasonably priced. In fact the Christmas stuff is on sale already. I use some CF nightlights in the house, but they are 110v also...but you can get a little inverter cheap now, even one that fits a 12v power outlet since LEDs take so little power, unless you have 110v to use. I see that rope light used but I don't know what voltage they get, I've only seen 110 so far and they were not LED.

Another souce is the 12v trouble lights and camping lights if you want to convert them. I've seen LED and CF. Just ideas if you are looking for stuff to customize.

I always wanted to put some colored lighting by the floor that was dim, then have another switch for bright white lights to see good with in the open part of the boat.
