Anybody know anything about "Mariner Performance Products"?
Looking at a '95 2.5L that was allegedly custom build by them. It's a carb motor with oil injection (which I'd remove....). Anyone know what HP that might be? Are the good motors?
Don't have pics or the S/N yet. Thinking about it as a replacement for a tired early 80s Merc 2.4 200 on my '87 Velocity 22.
Appreciate any thoughts and info.
Happy Holidays!
as far as I know, the color is the only difference between an equivalent year and HP merc.

I believe that a 95 model 2.5 could be a 150 to 300 hp motor. I think there were some 95 mariner drags made?
Some of the gurus will chime in.
Mariners and Merc 's during that time came off the same assembly line, different color cowls.
I bought a brand new 175 Mariner magII in 1999, it had 'Merc 175' in white marker on the block, from the factory.
A carb motor with oil injection???
Sounds more like a 200 fishin' motor with a lightweight Mariner cowl.
True High-Performance Mercs have an un-painted block and heads.
I had a XRi that also had white paint-marker on the block, marked "200 EFI".

Thanks guys for the input.
The marina that was selling it claimed it was 270+ hp. While I was waiting on serial number info from them, they sold it...it did look like a nice motor, just wanted to be sure before I made a 4 hour trek and dropped the cash.
Thanks again and Happy Holidays!
