Nitro gear case is 15:28 (1.87) prop diameter up to 13"
Regular gear case is 12:29 (2.42) prop diameter up to 14"
The Nitro advantage for a small boat is gearing. It's hard to prop a small boat with 2.42 gears to go very fast. And you want a smaller diameter prop on a fast little boat.
I don't see any advantage of the Nitro on a bigger boat. Nor do I know if you could get the Nitro gearcase from the factory with power trim.

In addition to the above, the bullet diameter is only 3 3/8" for the little case vs 4 1/8" on the fishin' version. The frontal area is one third smaller which is a major drag reduction at higher speeds.
-thanks for the help, im in the process of buying the motor.... did the short sprint/stinger come standard w/ the nitro or the reg fishin L/U?
and what r the cubes on this motor?

Not always - I think a 15" 70 hp Stinger could be 1974 and came with the big case. Same for a 15" Stinger in 1973 which I think would be a 65 hp.
how about 1986 sprint? ....im pretty sure its the nitro...
whats the approx weight of the motor? and i think its a 75hp not 70hp. im gonna try running it on an inflatable

If it is 15" engine and if it has the original gearcase, a 1986 75 would have the small case with 15:28 gears.
sweet............. thankz 4 all your help!
