We have a new optimax with the thin cowl. it has a crack about 4 inches long in the top of it. i talked to a few guys that have repaired fiberglass cowls for me but they said they could not do anything to repair this one.

Anyone on here ever try to repair one? if so what did you use and how did it come out?

thanks,
JT

I believe these cowls are other than fiberglass and are closely related to the new car bumpers. I took my cowling to a body shop and they "welded" the cowling together, then repainted the entire cowling. I have run it a few times since and it is "holding together" just fine. Capnzee

Hey you cheap POS, just charge the customer for it. After all, it's a welfare moto, they ought to be used to spending big bucks for trivial ****.

I have repaired lexan snowmobile hoods with Epoxy resin and thin glass cloth before and it held well in very extreme conditions. Don't see why it couldn't work here for more strength. Or even using cloth in conjunction with the before mentioned products if compatable. Trick is doing a good sanding and surface cleaning job. Good epoxy resin adheres to damn near anything if preped well. Worked for me.
