its hard to tell how loud it really is. been told the 4 cycle at high rpms are real noisy, but have not heard one my self.

Nice boat, nice motor except it looks like he is the slowest boat on the lake with everyone passing him. Seemed quiet in the boat but hard to tell.

For now anyway
Somebody is going to figure out how to twist that V6 up to 9,000 and put a Yammi copy on the Titus modified LU.........:D

Yeah if I had a quarter for every time I saw someone post about this Honda car with the same vtec motor that makes 400hp and so easy, blah blah BLAH!

People don't seem to realize that if Honda can't or wont do it....there is a problem. Honda is one of the best engine makers on the planet. 4 strokes still can't get it even after nearly every major racing arena has spent cumulatively billions on 4 stroke development. The only thing they did for 2 strokes was DI, and only because they were forced to do so. The 20 year old 2 strokes make as much or more power than todays.

All that's true, but what's also true is there ARE a LOT of tweaked jap motors out there producing some real HP numbers at high rpm, without blowing up. Just like the Merc 2.5's. They have to be spun up to make real power.
There's 'nothing wrong' with any of them spinning up higher than stock, it's just the longevity is greatly reduced. Look at the Promax turning 6400 rpms lasting for hundreds and hundreds of hours with no work, but the 2.5 EFI's spinning 8,000+ needing rings every 200 hours.................

Are the Honda performance outboard guys afraid to post here? I look now and then and see nothing about 4 stroke performance, but do see posts from people who want to use them for various reasons and want more power.

I have no doubt more power can be had screaming them, but so can a 2 stroke with less weight and less parts, even less wear items...I bet less cost even.

I have a 28ft World Cat cuddy (270HT) with Honda twin Honda 225s on the back. This boat can do 56mph in 4 footers. If i add 150 gallons of fuel and 8 people i can still do 49mph. I can also troll all down with on less the .4GPH. Its the ultimate for fishing boats but i would probably choose an ETEC if i was looking for top speed but this is a fishing boat.

I think that pretty good for a 28ft fishing boat.

I am a Honda and an Evinrude dealer. And i have had plenty of people ask this same question. Their 225hp block is straight out of the oddessy van and very capable of a 300 or 325 hp. But the number one priority for the guys in japan is reliability. When you squeze that much horsepower out of that displacement start to loose that reliability. Exactly why the USCG is able to get over 6000 hours on a motor in 3 years and no problems. These Honda V6s i do know very well, ive worked on many since we deal a lot with the coast gaurd.

Wait to you guys get to see that new 90 that Blast system really has done wonders and youd be surprised what that motor can do.
