96 model, At about 4900 to 5300 just cruising it starts fluddering and sounds like it's missing you can mash the gas on down and it goes away let up and it goes away it just seems to be right in those rpm's when it's not laboring to hard, And the tach seems to be a little off, I don't think it's the coils or wire's, Seems like if it were one of those it would skip under a load? So does that leave the stator or trigger? Does anyone think it could be in the reeds? My friend has spare motor parts so what do we need to change first? Any advice will be helpful, THANKS! Bryan
If you can get it to do it on the ramp use a timing light on each cylinder. Look into the light and watch for a misfire or no fire. Also check the injector spray pattern. I don't thing the reeds have any thing to do with it. Make sure the MAP sensor vacuum line nipple is not blocked too.

US1, If it were a injector would'nt it do it all of the time? Would you just try plugs wires or coils first?
Yes , try the electrical first. A partial straight lining injector can cause power loss at certain RPMs and loads.

Bryan, i'm courious to see how this thread turns out for you since my 98 260/a48 box does the same thing between 5000-5800rpm, and the egt's drops like a rock.
Good luck and hope you get it figured out.

My last 260 had this same issue. Never really found the cause. One thing I found after pulling it off is that inside the coil covers (the little rubber covers over the coils themselves, is that the magnet wrapped around them was broken on at least one. May be nothing, but may be something. Never tested it with different coils, but might be worth a look and try.

My 1995 does the same. When I'm light loaded, it does it worse than when I'm loaded so it fuel related. I'm 99% sure its 4stroking. When I cruise thru this rpm zone and not stop in it, it doesn't do it. When I stop in this rpm range and the map sensor adjust, after a couple seconds, it starts. As soon as I nail it, it clears and rockets off. My EGTs also drop when this happens. I talked to Sean about this also and he agrees. As long as the motor is fat and happy, I'm happy.:) I put all new electronics and tried two different ECUs. The ecus made it different but still did it.

Chad, mine sounds like yours but mine has not always done this it just started over the last 2 or 3 month's. My tach is also about 500 rpm's of I was thinking about trying a stator next and I guess while I am under there replace the trigger, My friend has the parts so it won't cost anything to try it! THANKS!
