I have a 2.4 efi Bp At first I have a TPI problem(analog ECU) so I changed it to a digital A48, Install a 40 amps sys,New switch boxes, trigger, even clean the injestors, fuel pump &regulator are ok(checked), So I when out with a friend who is helping me out a lot like Blg AL here and install a pyrometer made change in the ECU, Everything suppost to be normal but I still having problem with idler and I still having the transom just blak all over, So anyone can give me a good advice of what maybe the problem? The only thing I have not change yet is the metal reeds which I ordered them no in the boat yet.
PD: It just wont hold the idler either by adjustment screw(minimun) or idler screw it just shut off or idler to high but when you put it from neutral to gear just die and likewayse

Common problem is Spark Plugs.

Or bad coil wire or coil.

When you changed the electronics did you wire the coils back correctly?


But what you are talking about is how a bad reed valve acts.

I just when out and check they r ok(wires) coil r good there is a spark in all the cylinders, But there is too much gal/oil in the water at idle.

Hey Al I finally find out what was the idle ghost one of the screw that hold the reeds cage was loose and stuck in the reeds lucky me It did not when thru i just check compression and it's good glad nothing happens!
