What year 3.0l Mercs have 8 splines at the crank?

I need a 25" intermediate shaft, but the guy I bought this engine from said to make sure I get the 8 spline shaft. 8 at the top 13 at the bottom.

What year's fit this application? I've been offered a few 13 spline shafts/gearcases.

The first 3 liters had 2,5 splines some where around 94-95 then they when to the fine one they have now.
