Seems this oil is mostly geared toward PWC's, but it is TCW3 rated. I've been running Quicksilver Premium Plus and works fine (why wouldn't it) but it's on the messy side and I have a relative who is a Bel Ray distributor. I know their 2-stroke racing oil is geared toward the air cooled dirt bikes and such, but wondering if anyone has used this JS2 oil. If I could get a deal on a good oil and help a relative out I might switch. Stock steel sleeve 2.5 carb motor. Thanks.

Don't try to same money on oil. It's the life blood of your engine, stick with the engine manufacturers recommendation.

If the Amzoil doesn't work (I have heard it won't) the repair is very expensive

BelRay is good oil. It calls itself a premium petroleum oil, so I don't know what would separate it from Quicksilver Premium Plus...don't know if it has any synthetic in it or what its advantages are over traditional petroleum based oils.

For your motor, the Quicksilver Premium Plus works fine and for budget pricing, the Pennzoil synthetic blend is very good oil and easy to find (Wal-Mart, etc.) also, Sierra is stocked at West Marine and they have a Synthetic blend that is very competitively priced. I wouldn't go with a full synthetic on your production steel sleeve motor due to full synthetic's tendency to leave small rust deposits (even synthetics that claim to inhibit rust don't coat as well as synthetic blends or full petroleum based oils). Blue Marble is GREAT oil, but it's on the pricier side and harder to find (although Bass Pro carries it), but it's SUPER clean.

Thanks for the replies guys, would have thought there would have been more people familiar with the Bel Ray name. But I don't think many people are viewing the board right now with the holiday and all. I really don't have any complaint about the Premium Plus, other than there is a LOT of carbon in the motor considering the oil injection is hooked up and the Plus is supposed to run cleaner. I ran Power Tune through it only 30 hours ago and was shocked at the huge chunk of carbon on the one spark plug. I'm of the opinion that the purpose of oil is to lubricate the motor, not prevent carbon. But it seemed awful dirty to me compared to the Walmart Super Tech that I've used in other motors (blended at a former Pennzoil/Quaker State plant) and the Penzoil synthetic blend I've used in the past. I like how it smells better than those oils though.

Ron.
I used to run the Bel Ray in my dirt bike eons ago and it was GREAT oil ( 2 stroke 250 Elsinor Honda air cooled ) It was pricy back then but a premium oil DUNNO how it is now and how it would "work" in a water cooled 2 stroke.....

Good luck,
