I can get the Tony Doukas Reeds for most any standard OB application. They will help a bit BUT they are an insurance policy in case your OEM metal reeds fatigue and the engine injests it. The stock metal reed can damage your engine and the fiber won't...

Is there an hour life to reeds?? seriously should there be a year or hour life to a set of reeds in a V6?
I have one engine apart now that I'm buildinhttp://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/images/icons/icon12.gif, I will be installing fibre reeds, and another, a 1995 200 hp Merc EFI near stock that lives at 6,000 since I have owned it the last 1 year. And who know how many hour is on it, before I owned it?? supposide 1800 hours. I was going to just mill the heads to get tohttp://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/images/icons/icon2.gif 145 psi compressionhttp://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif. The stocker runs strong.
Should I just replace them while things are apart?

Your call but when it was down its just something smart to do. Reed life depends on alot of issues, wet reed motor, oil ratio, rpms',hours run, basicly use and abuse. Reeds are a consumable idem like sand paper in a machine shop. They are slowly going away the second they are installed and put to use. We have had GREAT longevity and performance with the TDR reed in our race engines that punish the reeds....

All my opinion,
