Has anybody used the SeaStar Pro hydraulic steering system with twin Mercs?
Good or no good?
Besides the regular complete kit, do I need another front cylinder? What other components are needed?
Can I still use my back wingplates and tiebar?

Any vendors on the board can help me out?

Like always, Thanks

I have used the twin cylinder setup with great results. I saw a 21' Liberator rigged with a single cylinder and just a tie bar to the other engine. Owner said it had been working for 10 years but it just did not look safe to me.

I use them on most of my twin setups. I always use twin rams if it's a fast boat. Just be sure to use the rear tiebar setup. There's very little stress on the rams with counter rotating motors. The tiebar takes the torque.

When you run to front cylinders, do you then run four hoses up to a different type of helm? (compared to the regular SeaStar Pro helm) or do you tee somewhere?

I usually would get this stuff from RickRacers (very knowledgable), but site is down and didn't answer e-mail. Anybody else knows a good vendor that knows the correct parts to order and has good prices?

You can use a 2.4 Seastar helm. It's not too much more than a Pro helm. You need to run 4 hoses to the cylinders, but they tee off to two hoses running to the helm. I can get pretty good prices on the stuff, but it takes me a few weeks to get it all.

Frank,

You may want to take a look at these "Tournament Series" rams. They work in conjunction with pro helm or the 2.4 helm (Randy mentioned)and a heavy duty bar. Teleflex recommends them for high performance twin and triple engine applications. I have a pair for my new boat.

Jeff, it looks like that uses a front tiebar instead of a rear one.

Randy,

Yes it does, I should have been more clear in my post. Thanks for clearing up my error.
